• Smithfield Elementary

Exteriror view of Smithfield Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Living Saviour Lutheran Church works closely with Smithfield Elementary to support needs that are not met by school budgets. We also assist them with emergency needs, such as clothing for the students who are homeless, in foster care or those who come from homes where the child does not own appropriate clothing – example: seasonal shoes and attire.  Underwear for all sizes is also requested as they frequently have to launder clothing for children who have accidents during the school day.

Additionally, we strive to honor the teachers and aides who give their talents to this school. We pack tote bags for each teacher/aide and have breakfast for them the week before school starts to distribute the bags. We fill their totes with tissues, hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, printer paper, large sticky notes, markers, etc. Bins have been placed in the entry and labeled “SMITHFIELD SPECIAL NEEDS” along with two bins for food donations.

If you are interested and available to donate your time, there is a need for additional volunteers!

  • Lutheroad Summer Camp

Lutheroad Day Camps are a taste of summer camp right here at home! A group of Lutheridge counselors, along with adult volunteers, offer day camp sessions to church members as well as community children. Some of the special resources their staff bring include: music, arts and crafts, games, and Bible study. They also bring a great love of children and a contagious enthusiasm for sharing their faith. Having cool college kids witness to the power of Jesus’ love in their lives leaves a lasting impression with children and they are super fun to be around!

This ministry comes to Living Saviour Lutheran Church during the month of July.  The counselors actually spend the night at LSLC, and we provide them with meals. Donations for scholarships are needed as well as volunteers to support the counselors with their activities!

  • Clothing for Crisis Assistance Ministry

CRISIS ASSISTANCE MINISTRY
Work being done to replace stairs at residence that also has wheelchair access. Crisis Assistance Ministry manages the Emergency Financial Assistance Program, providing aid to people who are in danger of being evicted or losing their utility connection through direct payments to housing and utility companies. Due to the current downturn in the nation’s economy, more people in our community have been forced to turn to Crisis Ministry for this financial assistance, placing a severe strain on available resources and forcing Crisis Ministry to turn away needy families.

Will you prayerfully consider a monetary gift to this valuable ministry? We are not accepting clothing donations at this time.

You can mail your tax-deductible check to 500-A Spratt St., Charlotte, NC 28206 or contribute online at www.crisisassistance.org.
