HousingFest is an Urban Ministry Center arts and music festival culminating in a concert that brings together national recording artists, music fans, and community leaders to end chronic homelessness in Charlotte.
We are thrilled to announce Mandolin Orange as the 2019 HousingFest headliner! The 2019 concert to end homelessness, presented by Urban Ministry Center in conjunction with Maxx Music, Blumenthal Performing Arts, and Visulite Theatre, will be Thursday, June 20, at Knight Theater.
The folk/Americana duo of Andrew Marlin (songwriter, vocals, mandolin, guitar, banjo) and Emily Frantz (vocals, violin, guitar) formed Mandolin Orange 10 years ago in Chapel Hill, where they are still based. They have produced five albums and over the last three years have toured the U.S. and Europe, including appearances at Austin City Limits, SXSW, Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Folk Festival and North Carolina’s MerleFest.
You won’t want to miss this final event in the 2019 HousingFest music and arts festival. The Chapel Hill duo has a newly released album, Tides of a Teardrop, that has already reached #1 on Billboard’s Heatseeker chart and #2 on Billboard’s Folk chart!
