Imagine, a beautiful warm sunny spring day, a bounce house, the boom and shake of live music, the smell of popcorn, the red of fire trucks, lots of kids and adults having a great time! Imagine if you will that very scene taking place at Living Saviour! Imagine, our neighbors getting to know us and finding out about the ministry we do both inside our walls and outside too! Now imagine this will happen on Saturday, June 3, and you have imagined Countdown to Summer 2017!
This wonderful event hopes to continue to build on the excitement and joy of 2016’s Countdown, letting our neighbors know we are here and want them to be too; want them to experience a good time, but also find out more about us as a congregation; and ultimately, we believe, know Jesus and his love as we do. Countdown to Summer 2017 hopes that we who already know and love Jesus have new ways to share that love with others, giving away a hot dog, helping a child shoot a water gun or an air dart, serving popcorn, blowing up balloons, standing by the bounce house or directing our neighbors to all the fun. We hope for an event where we can laugh together, enjoy each other’s company and that of our neighbors, growing together in new ways as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Living Saviour is a wonderful place! It is a “church that serves” and a church that desires to share the love of Jesus and grow God’s kingdom, and it takes many hands to do that. What we are offering to our neighbors is unique, because we aren’t trying to raise money! We are trying to raise the awareness that Jesus loves all, and we welcome all to come here to church and experience the joy of Jesus. We hope to raise awareness that we are a community.
Our vision of ourselves as a congregation is one which seeks to be a “community of disciples in service to the Living Savior.” Countdown to Summer 2017 hopes to build that community by having fun together, and seeks to serve God by serving our neighbors. Community happens when you give an hour or more of your time doing something different, stepping out of your comfort zone to help a child do a craft project, or greeting those who come to experience our church grounds, working a shift to make a game happen.
Community happens when we offer a smile, a friendly word, a place to have fun and enjoy a beautiful sunny spring day in early June, for our neighbors, for our friends and family who we bring and invite. There is something for everyone here! Call a friend to come and join in sharing a game booth with you, laugh, love, show this world a whole lot of God’s love, a little kindness, and a great deal of the joy that comes from being part of God’s kingdom of Love!
Love in Christ,
