astor Angela King Powell (Pastor Angela) answered a call to Living Saviour Lutheran Church and began her service here March 18, 2013.
Although Living Saviour has previously had a female Associate Pastor, Pastor Angela is the first female Pastor/Head of Staff in Living Saviour’s more than 30 year history.
Pastor Angela came to Living Saviour from Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant, North Carolina. While serving there, she and her husband, Brian, organized and lead mission trips to the small town of Valley, Alabama to work on house refurbishment. She was also an after-school tutor in the community. She believes in living out the gospel through service and actions in daily life, and says she looks forward to helping the congregation at Living Saviour continue to live out its mission statement.
Pastor Angela earned a Master of Divinity Degree from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina where she graduated with Honors. She is also a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she got a degree in Child Development. In the years in between earning those two degrees, Pastor Angela spent time encouraging and nurturing family faith life, even developing a family ministry while working for Christ Lutheran Church In Charlotte.
The Powells are the proud the parents of a three children; a son in the Navy and two daughters in college. While the children may be away from home they still have three dogs, Izzy, Moses and Sammy to keep things lively around the house.
Although Pastor Angela ‘s family moved a few times in her childhood, she considers the Hickory, North Carolina area her hometown as she still has family there and graduated from Fred T. Foard High School in Newton, North Carolina.
